SLEEP STUDY FAQ

I have completed my Diagnostic sleep study, what happens now?

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • How long will it take to get my results?

Please allow 10-14 business days to receive results.

  • How will I receive my sleep study results?

Once the study has been scored and the physician has interpreted the results you will be contacted by one of our staff members. If your Diagnostic sleep study is positive for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, you will be scheduled for a PAP titration study or prescribed an Auto PAP device. This will be determined by your physician and insurance requirements. If your sleep study is negative for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, an office visit with the physician will be necessary to discuss your results.

  • Will my insurance cover the CPAP / BiPAP machine?

Yes, if you are recommended to receive a PAP machine, most insurance companies will cover this equipment. Coverage is based on the terms and conditions of your contract with the insurance company. Please be aware, individual policies vary and some may require a pre-certification which could take anywhere from 2 to 30 days. We encourage you to contact your insurance company to verify specific coverage related to your policy.

  • Who will supply my CPAP / BiPAP equipment?

If pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Associates is in-network with your insurance, we can supply your equipment.  We will contact you and ask you to come into the lab so we can fit you for your mask and show you how to use and maintain your equipment. This appointment usually takes about 45 minutes.

If Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Associates is not in-network with your insurance to provide equipment or you request to be referred to another company, then you will be referred to a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) company that is in network. This company will contact you to arrange set up of your CPAP / BiPAP machine.
